Conway Christmas Lights

Blaze a trail of Christmas lights in Conway

By Todd E Jones | December 6, 2020

We have all struggled to find something positive in 2020. We have seen businesses struggle, people become sick, and lack interaction with our friends and neighbors. If there is one sure thing, we can find some good cheer when it comes to Christmastime. I can remember times when, as a family, we hopped in the car and went to look at Christmas lights. There is something magical about seeing Christmas lights at night. Just a couple years ago, my mom and I went to Hot Springs the week of Thanksgiving. We strolled through Garvan Woodland Gardens, which has a huge […]

Holiday Gift Guide Returns

Holiday Gift Guide returns in 2020

By Todd E Jones | November 5, 2020

In 2017 I launched the Holiday Gift Guide. I really liked the idea of showcasing holiday gift ideas from local, small businesses. I still like the idea. We brought it back in 2019. We are doing it again in 2020. After the year we have had, we need to support our small businesses. Conway Scene has been fairly quiet the past few months, but it is time to be more active. There is no better way to do that than to focus on the holiday for 2020. I am hoping to launch the gift guide prior to Thanksgiving this year, […]

Personality matters in a new era of entrepreneurship

By Parker Education & Deveopment | August 9, 2020

For the budding entrepreneur, the year 2020 will serve as a severe and lasting reminder of the risks associated with having your own business. This article began with a different premise in mind but that was in February. Businesses are struggling to survive and others are managing to thrive while we all manage our way through this COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, the recovery approach for some businesses will be different. It may take close to a year to put our eyes on a new normalcy. That should be plenty of practice for everyone to regress to the mean and curtail hoarding […]

This Week of Monday, Extraordinary Times

Moving forward during extraordinary times

By Todd E Jones | March 21, 2020

I have been quiet for over a week about the pandemic and how it affects Conway Scene. I decided its time to talk about it. Starting now, we are suspending the Events Guide we put out each week. To start with, the Event’s Guide is very labor-intensive. Add to that the fact that, basically, events have been canceled or suspended. I have been thinking about ways Conway Scene can help the Conway area community during this time. I have some skills I can put to use. During this time, metrics like pageviews and email signups don’t seem overly important. Here […]

This week in Conway – Week of Monday, March 15, 2020

By Todd E Jones | March 15, 2020

Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, several events have been canceled for the foreseeable future. Additionally, schools have been dismissed. We are going to take a quick look at the events scheduled for this week in Conway. Several have been canceled. As of now, the Cruisin Friday night at Hendrix is still scheduled. I checked with the host who said that they would be making a decision on Monday. The Youth Maker Monday hosted by Conductor has been canceled. Conductor is working on options, but due to UCA being shut down, they have announced that they “will cancel […]
