C.D. Wright Women Writers Conference Announces Inaugural Event At UCA
The C. D. Wright Women Writers Conference will host its inaugural event Nov. 3-4 at the University of Central Arkansas.
The conference is open to all, though it will cater to women and women-identifying writers from all genres and all experience levels, from journalism to mass-market books to literary endeavors and beyond. The conference’s goal is to provide a space for camaraderie, connection-making and inspiration.
UCA Launches Makerspace At The Shoppes At Donaghey
The University of Central Arkansas community welcomed the UCA Makerspace Powered by the Conductor at a launch event Tuesday morning.
The UCA Makerspace Powered by the Conductor is a place for students and community members to make, design and dream. It is a collaborative, interdisciplinary workspace with tools to prototype concepts, make new things, and take ideas to the next level.
Registration Open For Fall Lessons In UCA Community School Of Music
Registration is open for fall music lessons at the University of Central Arkansas Community School of Music.
According to Smokey Emerson, Community School of Music director, for more than 26 years, the Community School of Music has offered exceptional musical training and instruction to children and adults in the Central Arkansas area. The faculty of the Community School consists primarily of UCA Music faculty and selected graduate and undergraduate students, along with adjunct instructors who are professional musicians and teachers.
UCA hosts free Bear Blast – Donaghey Block Party 2017
UCA will host a block party this Friday night, August 25 starting at 5 pm at the new Donaghey Hall. The event is free to the public.
UCA Baum Gallery To Host New Fall Exhibitions
The Baum Gallery at the University of Central Arkansas will host two exhibitions from Sept.1 to Oct. 19, 2017. A reception for both shows is Aug. 31.
Faulkner County Library to host Solar Eclipse Event
The Faulkner County Library will host a Solar Eclipse event on Monday, August 21 at 11:30 am until 1 pm. The library suggests you bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy the event with the special glasses. In a statement from the Faulkner County Library to Conway Scene, We will also be live-streaming the eclipse indoors (projecting onto the vaulted ceiling), which is the safest way to watch if you don’t have the eclipse glasses. UCA & Metova Announce Apprenticeship Program
The University of Central Arkansas Division of Outreach and Community Engagement, the Arkansas Coding Academy, the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services and U.S. Department of Labor announced the state’s first Information Technology Based Registered Apprenticeship Program at UCA.
