This year, Conway EcoFest celebrates the festival’s tenth year, Saturday, October 6, from 11 am to 4 pm at Laurel Park in Conway. It is shaping up to be one of the best! Conway EcoFest is joining forces with Conway ArtsFest to host a festival focusing on environmental awareness, and the beauty and value of the arts called Conway Eco + Arts Fest 2018.
This year’s theme is “The World and the Water About Us.”
Accordingย to the EcoFest website,ย “Water seems to be a constant theme around our community. The marriage of ArtsFest and Conway EcoFest seemed like a perfect fit to talk about the importance of our water, as well as the sustainable practices and social justice both of our organizations strive for every day.”
There are other new editions to this year’s EcoFest this year.
There will be a Textile Waste Exhibit Area where participants can learn more about reusing various types of textiles. The area will include a fashion show hosted by Ensemble of Elan. There will also be a styling booth where you can learn how to reuse pieces of clothing to produce fresh, new fashion.
Additionally, the Textile Waste Exhibit Area will include a sculpture made with oil barrels and a kids area with a fort (yes, a fort!) and a dress-up section.
We are probably most excited about the other new exhibit – the mock roundabout. There, children will be able to don a cardboard car and learn how to navigate one of Conway’s famous roundabouts. It will help educate children and parents on the efficiency of roundabouts as well as how to better navigate the traffic circles.
The mock roundabout area will also feature Conway city recycling trucks, fire, ambulance, and UPS trucks.
This year’s Conway Eco + Arts Fest is tracking attendance to help event planners know the age demographics as well as how far people are traveling to attend. This event is the only one of its kind in the state of Arkansas, so attendees and participants are expected to come from all over the state.
Stormy the Fish will educate participants about what happens with stormwater. Using information from the City of Wilmington, NC Stormwater Services, the EcoFest team and the city of Conway produced the program for the festival.

Additionally, the University of Central Arkansas is hosting a series of events which will include music and water (see more). The series of events will blend the use of arts, science, and the water theme from EcoFest.
The festival is free, but you can RSVP on Eventbrite.
Vendor and exhibitor information can be found on the Conway Eco + Arts Fest website or the Conway Eco + Arts Fest Facebook page.
