UCA’s Baum Gallery To Host Spring Senior Art Show

Conway Institute of Music

CONWAY — The Baum Gallery at the University of Central Arkansas is set to host its Spring BA/BFA senior show beginning March 28 at 4 p.m.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. The Baum Gallery, located in McCastlain Hall, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday. The opening reception is set for March 28, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. The last day for the exhibition is April 26, 2024.

During this exhibition, graduating BFA/BA students work with the director of the Baum Gallery to install their work. This experience gives students the opportunity to show their work in a professional, museum environment. This event also continues the Baum Gallery’s mission to promote contemporary art for the larger UCA and Conway communities.

This exhibition is a requirement for graduating students with a Bachelor of Arts in art with emphases in fine art or art education or a Bachelor of Fine Art in studio art.

“This exhibition is an important tradition that a number of people in the UCA community enjoy visiting. The Department of Art and Design takes pride in giving many of our participating students their first true museum venue experience,” said Brian Young, director of the Baum Gallery. “On top of that, we enjoy welcoming our students, staff and family, and the public. For many of them, it’s there first time to the Baum.”

Bryan W. Massey, Sr., chair of the Department of Art and Design, said, “This exhibition is the culmination of their art education at UCA. Collectively, the work represents a cross-section of the overall effort in the art department.”

Those exhibiting their work include:

Bachelor of Fine Art, Studio Art Emphasis: Destiny Zrebski

Bachelor of Arts with emphases in Fine Art or Art Education: Taebriunna Bartee, Emma Forbes, Meghan Geery, Roman Romero-Dawson, Brandy Lucas, Madison Roy, Alonso Sandoval-Lopez, Bruce White III, Micah White and Sara Wojtarowicz.
