CONWAYโThe Baum Gallery at the University of Central Arkansas is set to host its fall BA/BFA senior show beginning Nov. 4, 2021. The opening reception is 4-7 p.m. The last day of the exhibition is Dec. 2.
The Baum Gallery, located in McCastlain Hall, is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. other weekdays. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
This exhibition is a requirement for graduating students with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art or a Bachelor of Arts in Art with an emphasis in fine art or art education.
“This exhibition represents a cross-section of the overall university effort for art and design,โ said Bryan W. Massey Sr., professor, and chair of the Department of Art and Design. โThe exhibition also provides a museum venue for the student’s work to be seen individually and alongside the work of their peers.โ
Students exhibiting their work include:
- Bachelor of Fine Arts, studio art emphasis: Dalton Yates
- Bachelor of Arts with emphasis in fine art or art education: Katelyn Bello, Shelby Bennett, Annie Freer, Olivia Henderson and River Simmons.
โThis exhibition is an important tradition that a number of people in the UCA community enjoy visiting including the students, staff, and family, and it also gives the majority of the participating students their first true museum venue experience,โ said Brian Young, director of the Baum Gallery.
This exhibition is the first BFA/BA show of this school year. During this exhibition, graduating BFA/BA students work with the director of the Baum Gallery to install their work. This experience gives students the opportunity to show their work in a professional, museum environment. This event also continues the Baum Gallery’s mission to promote contemporary art for the larger UCA and Conway communities.
The Baum Gallery organizes several exhibitions per year and attempts to incorporate student work when appropriate.
Baum Gallery follows UCA COVID-19 protocols. For more information, contact Young at (501) 450-5793 or bkyoung@uca.edu.
