School Zone & School Bus Safety

School Zone Safety

"If a) you’re passing through during school hours (approximately 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in most districts) AND b) children are present and outside the building, the Arkansas school zone law is in effect. You should slow to 25 MPH once you enter the school zone (remember, 300 feet before and after you reach the building). Don’t increase your speed until you’re safely out of the zone."

Flashing Red, Kids ahead!

"It is illegal to pass a stopped school bus whenever its red lights are flashing, as students are present. The fines, penalties and punishment for anyone found guilty of illegally passing a stopped school bus were increased dramatically by Act 2128 of 2005, also known as Isaac’s Law."

Remember the fines.

We definitely want people to know that:

(1) it's a jail offense,

(2) driver license is suspended on conviction

(3) up to 400 hours community service and

(4) all Conway school buses have outside video cameras.
