Added performance of The Sound of Music will be first of its kind
CONWAY, AR – In response to demand and requests, Red Curtain Theatre is adding a performance to its schedule this weekend where participants will be able to sing along with the cast members. The added performance will be a Saturday matinee at 2:00 p.m.
“Our ticket sales for the first weekend of performances were great, but so many audience members were asking if they were allowed to sing along with the cast members during the show,” said Kristen Dickerson, Co-Owner of Red Curtain Theatre and Executive Producer of The Sound of Music. “As many times as I had to tell people that no singing from the audience would be allowed, it became clear that we should offer a sing-a-long version. And that’s exactly what we’ve done!”
Red Curtain Theatre’s production of The Sound of Music was seen by large audiences on August 5 through August 7 at Staples Auditorium on the Hendrix College campus, and had previously scheduled three performances for this weekend on Friday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m. The added Sing-A-Long performance will be on Saturday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets for the Sing-A-Long show will be donation-based and audience members will be asked to pay what they can.
“We know a lot of the people that already saw the show will want to come back to be able to sing along with the cast so we want to make this performance as accessible as possible for everyone,” said Dickerson.
Red Curtain’s mission is to provide an atmosphere that nurtures and inspires performers of all ages by offering performance opportunities through community theatre, youth workshops, private instruction, and dance. The Conway, Arkansas theatre strives to provide an atmosphere that inspires the performer inside of all community members, regardless of experience level.
