CAFTA

Nominations for Conway Arts Awards accepted through April 22

Conway Institute of Music

CONWAY, Ark. (April 7, 2022) – Conway Alliance for the Arts (CAFTA) is pleased to bring back the Conway Arts Awards after an extended pause due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nomination forms are found at conwayarts.org/artsawards and will be accepted until April 22.

The awards, recognizing contributions to the arts in Conway, will be given for:

  • Outstanding Arts Educator
  • Faulkner County Library Outstanding Student Achievement (K-4, 5-8, and 9-12),
  • Outstanding Student Achievement College Division
  • Gene Hatfield Outstanding Individual Artist
  • Conway Alliance for the Arts Community Advocate for the Arts

The public is encouraged to submit nominations for any of these awards online at conwayarts.org/artsawards. Artists are allowed to self-nominate. The deadline for submitting nominations is Friday, April 22. All mediums and types of art are welcome: visual art, digital art, music, theater, dance, poetry, etc.

“Nominees must demonstrate significant ability or have made meaningful progress in their art, but they don’t have to live inside the Conway city limits,” said CAFTA Board Chair Tracie Spivey. “We call upon all artists who live, work, play, or learn in Conway to self-nominate. The Conway Alliance for the Arts is excited to recognize the very talented individuals who enrich our lives and make Conway a more fun and beautiful place to live.”

The Arts Awards ceremony will be from 6-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, at UCA Downtown on Oak Street. Presented in conjunction with Art Walk (produced by the Creative Institute of Central Arkansas) CAFTA is proud to be the Music Sponsor for the May Art Walk. Awards ceremony attendees will have much to enjoy, including live music, art demonstrations, shopping, drinks, and snacks in many downtown Conway locations.

The Arts Awards ceremony, like Art Walk, is free and open to the public.
