By Pansy Johnson College of Fine Arts and Communication Media Office CONWAY — Multi-genre recording artist Damien Sneed will bring his tour, “We Shall Overcome: A Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.” to the University of Central Arkansas’s Reynolds Performance Hall on Monday, Feb. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Sneed is a pianist, organist, conductor, composer, producer, arranger, vocal coach, professor and arts educator. He has worked with legends such as Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Kenny Burrell and many others. Kaffir Boy’ Author Mark Mathabane To Speak At UCA

CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas’ African and African-American Studies program, the History department and the Schedler Honors College are hosting a public talk by Dr. Mark Mathabane, the celebrated author of “Kaffir Boy,” on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 1:40-2:40 p.m. in the UCA College of Business Auditorium. Mathabane’s talk will be on the topic of ubuntu, an African philosophy that he believes is crucial in addressing intractable issues of race in America. Bella Interactive Art Exhibition On Display At UCA Downtown

The UCA Division of Outreach and Community Engagement and the College of Fine Arts and Communication presents the Bella Interactive Art Exhibition. CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas Division of Outreach and Community Engagement and the College of Fine Arts and Communication have partnered to present “The Typology of Typography: A Permanent Evanescence” by Dr. Peter Bella. The artwork of Bella, assistant professor of graphic design at UCA, is currently on display at UCA Downtown, located at 1105 West Oak Street in downtown Conway. Conductor partners with Facebook to launch “Career Connections” program in Arkansas. CONWAY–Career Connections, a new Facebook initiative that connects emerging talent to training opportunities, local internships, and a network of professional mentors, is set to launch in Arkansas this spring. The Career Connections program will train Arkansas’ college students at a two-day Skills Summit, in which students will learn interview skills, how to master digital tools and more. Foothills Arkansas Master Naturalists kicks off this month

The Foothills chapter of the Arkansas Master Naturalists is kicking off their new year of workshops. Saturday, they held a workshop at Woolly Holly State Park to teach kids of all ages how to build a birdhouse. Next Saturday, January 26, the Naturalists will hold their first yearly orientation for new Naturalists. UCA’s Baum Gallery To Host Two New Exhibitions This Spring

CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas’ Baum Gallery will host two exhibitions this spring, “Faculty Invitational” and “From It to Thou: Being Conscious of the Sacred in Nature.” An opening reception will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24. Both exhibits will go up on that day and remain up until Feb. 15. The “Faculty Invitational” show features work from almost every full-time UCA art department faculty member, including those in the disciplines of graphic design, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, printmaking, fiber, video and animation, and photography.
