150 leaders from across the Midsouth attended five-day event CONWAY—The University of Central Arkansas hosted the 36th annual Community Development Institute earlier this month. More than 150 community leaders from across the Midsouth region participated in the five-day training session which culminated in a graduation and award ceremony. President and CEO of the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce Bill Luther received the Bill Miller Community Development Award as recognition for his long-standing leadership and support of CDI. Monday, August 22, 2022 is the first day of school in Conway. It is also the first day of school in Greenbrier and Vilonia. Mayflower starts back on Tuesday, the 23rd. That means all of the local public schools as well as our local private schools will be back in session this week! UCA and Hendrix College start back this week as well. UCA names Amanda Horton executive director of Public Appearances

Bookcase Project banquet returns October 20 with Key as speaker

Johnny Key, state education Secretary, will deliver the keynote speech at the Conway Kiwanis Bookcase Project’s annual banquet on October 20, 2022. The banquet will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Bob and Betty Courtway Middle School, 1200 Bob Courtway Drive, Conway. Supper and entertainment will be provided, the latter by the Fat Soul Band, a network of musicians in central Arkansas who specialize in sing-along pop, country and rock music.
