Dr. Karen K. Petersen Named 13th President of Hendrix College

Petersen to begin June 2023, following retirement of W. Ellis Arnold III CONWAY, Ark. (January 9, 2023) — The Hendrix College Board of Trustees has named Dr. Karen K. Petersen to be the 13th President of Hendrix College, beginning in June 2023. Petersen will succeed W. Ellis Arnold III ’79, who will become President Emeritus following his retirement in June. A native of northwest Arkansas, Petersen was selected following a comprehensive national search process involving Hendrix alumni, Board of Trustees members, faculty, staff, and students. UCA celebrates MLK legacy with annual Prayer Breakfast

CONWAY–The University of Central Arkansas Office of Diversity and Community will host the annual MLK Prayer Breakfast Friday, Jan. 13, in the Ronnie Williams Student Center Ballroom. The official program begins at 9 a.m., and breakfast begins at 8:15 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Pastor E.C. Maltbia, Senior Pastor of True Holiness Saints Center, and UCA Board of Trustees member. The breakfast is held each year to celebrate the spiritual legacy and moral courage that King brought to the social justice movement. This year’s theme is “The Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”

The Progression of Conway’s Hope Village Hope Village, a community of ten quality homes being built to address the problem of homelessness in the Conway community, is the latest initiative of the City of Hope Outreach. CONWAY – The Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre will debut the all-new “AST Education LAB” this January with four classes: Middle School Acting, High School Acting, “Bard Babies” (a class for ages 4 through 6), and a stage combat class. The middle and high school classes will focus on acting and performance; the Bard Babies class will lead students through imaginative play with games, improvisations, and creative expression with a classical twist; and the stage combat class will focus on unarmed combat.
