Lane Long Music

Lane Long Music: roots from the folk music capital of the world

Conway Institute of Music

When I was a kid, I remember that my grandpa would sometimes go to the nearby small town and play music on the square.

Perhaps this is the root of early live music in Arkansas. No one does this better than Mountain View, AR.

Mountain View is the hometown of local musician Lane Long. Lane has spent several years now sharing his music with residents of Conway.

This month we introduce you to Lane Long music.

Official Music Bio

Lane Long hails from the “self-proclaimed” folk music capital of the world, Mountain View, AR. He grew up in a musical family. His parents were aspiring country artists, so he was always around music and around the stage.

When he came to UCA in Conway, Lane began playing live shows and writing music while leading worship at City Church since he was 18. Lane can be found at local bars and coffee shops all around AR, entertaining the crowd with whatever type of music they want to hear!

He truly can play something for anybody in the audience. Check out his newest single, “Mountain View,” about his hometown on all streaming platforms.

How did you get started?

I have always been singing. (Ask my friends and family 😂) I performed at school and in talent shows when I was a kid, then in college, I started playing live solo and with our cover band. I’ve also led worship since I was 16.

Favorite song to cover? or Perform

It depends on the night.. but I love doing Gravity by John Mayer.

How would you describe the music that you typically create/perform?

I think right now I am making a shift back to my folk roots. For a long time, I’ve drifted toward indie pop, but country/folk is where I have found most of my originals leaning.

If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be?

Great question! Right now, it’d be a tie between Ben Rector and Morgan Wallen. (I know, quite the difference, but I really do love so many different kinds of music.)

How can we find you online and your upcoming events?

What do you enjoy doing outside of music?

I love spending time with my closest friends and eating good food, playing disc golf, or rivaling in a good game of Catan.

Wrapping it up

I have heard Lane and The City Boyz a few times now and always come away entertained. They have a passion for the craft.

In fact, my favorite rendition of Run, Run Rudolph is by The City Boyz.

Lane will be playing at Kings on April 30, 2021. If you have a chance, check out Lane Long Live.
