CONWAY— The University of Central Arkansas will host creative artist, Allyson Dombey, as an artist-in-residence from Thursday, Nov. 16, to Friday, Nov. 17.
Dombey will hold a public art display and reception in the Windgate Center for Fine and Performing Arts lobby on Friday, Nov. 17, from 5:30-7 p.m.
Dombey serves as the CEO of Dombey Design, a diverse multimedia design team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her creative team specializes in various crafts, including glassblowing, metalworking, woodwork, costume design, 3D printing and CNC machining.
Dombey will also host a student presentation on Friday, Nov. 17, titled “The Business of Art.” The presentation will be held in the Windgate Center, lecture hall 167, from 2-2:50 p.m.
Aside from her artistic endeavors, Dombey boasts a wealth of experience as a creative information technologist, spanning over two decades. She is fluent in French and possesses a background in fields such as sociology, public health and information. Her educational journey has taken her to institutions like Tulane University, Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Michigan and even coursework at La Sorbonne in Paris.
Dombey will visit two separate French classes on Thursday, Nov. 16, one of the classes being Intermediate French in Irby Hall, room 204, from 9:25-10:40 a.m. Immediately following, she will visit French 3315: Creole Atlantic Seminar, also in Irby 204, from 10:50 a.m.-12:05 p.m.
The School of Language and Literature sponsors this residency in conjunction with the Department of Art and Design and is part of the “Our Louisiana Heritage” series.
