Conductor Announces Homecoming IdeaFame Live: Pitch Competition

Conway Institute of Music

CONWAY, ARK. (Oct. 8, 2019) — Conductor teams up with the University of Central Arkansas Homecoming Committee to host an IdeaFame Pitch Competition as part of UCA Homecoming Week on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 1:40 p.m.

The pitch competition encourages entrepreneurship and innovation by allowing contestants to express their ideas and win cash prizes. The competition is open to students, innovators, entrepreneurs, dreamers, inventors, and creatives to help unleash the next big idea or business.

The pitch competition is geared towards student contestants with a great idea to pitch to the audience.

Contestants will present for a maximum of 60 seconds, with no slides or notes. Only one contestant can speak per pitch and only one pitch is allowed per contestant. One winner will be selected by a panel of judges, while the other is selected by the audience. The two winners will each receive a $1,000 cash prize. The prizes are sponsored by Conductor.

The deadline for pitch contestants to sign up is Wednesday, October 23, at noon.

“I think we have incredibly talented students who are on the cusp of influencing the world through their entrepreneurial spirit for social change,” said Candice Barnes, associate professor at the University of Central Arkansas and a member of the community outreach subcommittee of the UCA homecoming committee. “They need a platform to showcase who they are, what they can offer and how their product, service or concept will add value to our local and global communities. This is such an event, and I am excited to hear what they have to offer.”

The community is invited to attend, support and learn from the pitch contestants. Admission is free and open to the public. Additionally, attendees will have an opportunity to vote for a “People’s Choice” winner.

“We want to inspire the next generations of creatives, makers, and innovators.” said Grace Rains, Director of Operations, “Pitch competitions like IdeaFame Live allow us to provide a platform to students to think outside the box, present their ideas, and then provide cash prizes to go towards funding those ideas. It is a fantastic process to watch.”

The event will take place at the McCastlain Fireplace Room on the University of Central Arkansas Campus. Doors open at 1:40 p.m. and the competition begins at 2 p.m. For additional information about the IdeaFame Pitch Competition or to register for the event, visit www.arconductor.org/calendar/ucapitch.
