Members of the Conway Area Leadership Institute (CALI) Class of 2022 are proud to partner with Sleep In Heavenly Peace (SHP) to expand the existing SHP AR-Vilonia Chapter into Conway 72032!
SHP is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that builds beds for children who do not have one of their own. Their motto is “No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town”. There are currently four chapters in Arkansas: Jonesboro, Fort Smith, Bentonville, and Vilonia.
Our group’s goal is to raise $24,000. This will allow our CALI group and the members of SHP-Vilonia to help build 48 beds for children on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Conway’s first-ever SHP Build Day. We also hope to provide SHP with an enclosed trailer and other needed equipment.
Each bed costs $250 ($500 per bunk) and includes the hand-built bed, new mattress, pillow, and all new bedding.
It is our group’s hope that we can bring awareness of this need in Conway and the wonderful things that this organization does to address those needs. While our event is the first in Conway, we don’t expect it to be the last. Our group just hopes to be a catalyst to one day expand this chapter to other areas of Faulkner County, but until then we want ensure that no child sleeps on the floor in Conway, our town.
Deadline to raise funds for the build day is December 19th.
Online donations are preferred, but checks may also be made payable to Sleep in Heavenly Peace. It is important to list “AR-Vilonia” in the memo of the check to ensure it is applied to our project. Checks can be mailed here:
