Applications Now Open for UCA’s The Big Event

Conway Institute of Music

CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas will host its seventh annual The Big Event day of service in Conway on Saturday, March 14.

UCA students organize all aspects of The Big Event, which provides opportunities for UCA students, faculty, staff and alumni to come together and give back to the Conway community through volunteer service.

The Big Event, which began at Texas A&M University in 1982, has spread to colleges and universities throughout the nation. UCA’s event, which takes place each March, is an opportunity for students to serve the community that supports the university. The event attracts several hundred volunteers every year, rain or shine. Roughly 600 volunteers participated in 2019.

Organizations and residents of Conway are invited to submit a request for volunteers by visiting uca.edu/go/bigevent. Volunteers are available to complete indoor and outdoor tasks, including minor landscaping, painting, cleaning, organizing, reading or participating in other interactive activities or projects. Community members are encouraged to contact the UCA Division of Outreach and Community Engagement or The Big Event Committee with questions about requests.

Most tools are provided, but needed materials must be supplied by the site. Job requests are open through Thursday, Feb. 6. All are welcome to submit a request online at uca.edu/go/bigevent.
