Markus Pearson was born to be a musician. Music was there at the beginning of his life. Pearson was hooked when he learned how to play “Fast as You” by Dwight Yoakum.
“My mom sang and played the piano for church and my dad was always playing on one of his guitars. Heโd play music from every genre, from Aerosmith to Kenny Chesney and Sheryl Crow to Bob Welch. My sister sings as well.” he said on his bio page.

Music Influences & Inspiration
Over the years, there have been many artists who have contributed to my creative process when it comes to singing and songwriting.
I would say my first influence would be Dwight Yoakam, for he is who I would listen to in the womb. My parents broke headphones apart and played nothing but Dwight Yoakam for nine months up until I was born. For the first couple of years of my life, all I wanted to listen to was Dwight Yoakam. When my parents would turn it down or turn the music off I would throw tantrums for hours on end.
As I got older, my choice of music changed. It ranged from NSYNC to Simple Plan, to Green Day, and many more in between.
However, over the years, I have found my way back to Dwight Yoakamโs music. It has much to do with the way I perform and play today.
My biggest influence outside of Dwight Yoakam would be none other than Eric Church. He is without a doubt my favorite artist to listen to and watch perform. I not only look up to him as a fellow musician, but I look up to him as a man and as a human being. I think he is a great role model and a great inspiration for us all as humankind.
How did you get started?
I believe music was planned to be in my life when God created me.
Favorite song to cover? or Perform
Although I enjoy playing cover songs, there is nothing like playing an original song and seeing people sing along to something you have created. Currently, my favorite original song to play is โLet You Goโ which is a ballad inspired by true events and will be featured on the upcoming record, “Familiar Strangers.”
How would you describe the music that you typically create/perform?
The music that I write is inspired by true events that I or ones close to me have experienced and lived. I try to keep my music as true as possible. I have found that this has connected with people from all walks of life. When it comes to performing, I try to play songs that are upbeat and keep the crowd interested. I like to throw in covers between my originals for the crowd to sing along and share the excitement of signing together.
